For providing reliable service to a very large number of users of web applications a cluster of application servers can be used.
Solution with 12 application servers installed on virtual machines and two Hyper-V platforms connected together in a Network Load Balancing (NLB) is described. It can serve more than two thousands of simultaneous users. High availability is achieved by using two physical servers and two Hyper-V platforms. In case of failure (perhaps even transient) of one physical server or Hyper-V platform complete load is directed to second Hyper-V platform on a second server. For disaster recovery a third Hyper-V platform is provided at a remote location for Hyper-V replicas of virtual machines. The solution is particularly advantageous from the standpoint of licensing if licensing per CPU is used if instead of licensing per user.
The conference is organized by the Croatian Association of Oracle users. More about the association can be found at Hroug.hr.
